Acrobat convert word to pdf free download

Is my opening a scan there and not getting editable text normal? The scans I'm dealing with are searchable in Acrobat. The text underlying the images in these scans can be selected, copied and pasted into Word. It just seems odd that such a scan when opened in Word does not carry with it the recognized text that it has in Acrobat.

This is quite apart from its ability to export the text as a Word file. Perhaps the ocr of a scan that is searchable in Acrobat is not part of the scan file, and that's why it isn't searchable outside that program?

That seems unlikely. The very same scan file can be opened and searched immediately in Windows 8 Reader. The underlying text there can be selected, copied and pasted into Word. Incidentally, almost all formatting is removed, in contrast to the universal hard line endings when the same text is pasted from Acrobat. The PDF opened in Word is a graphic and not editable. It would be nice to know what happens to the ocr that the scan file obviously carries around with it to the various PDF readers like Googe Docs, Acrobat and Windows 8 Reader and that isn't tapped when the file is opened in Word Maybe this layer of ocr is different from the layer that accompanies files that are 'printed to' PDF in a wordprocessor; maybe its detection is a Word feature that's waiting in the wings.
